About Ullen Sentalu Museum
This time, we turn to a museum that holds the history of Javanese culture, not only from the kingdom of Yogyakarta, but also from Surakarta, Pakualam, and Mangkunegaran. The museum, which was established in 1997 by the noble families of Yogyakarta and Surakarta, has a mission to preserve Javanese history, dignity, and cultural values. The museum is located on the slopes of Mount Merapi. Not only is the content interesting, but the architecture of the museum is very unique. The design that blends with nature makes it very beautiful compared to other museums. The museum named Ullen Sentalu has a Javanese meaning “Ulanting Blencong Sejatining Tataraning Lumaku” meaning “Light is the guide to the way of life”.
Location and How To Get There
The museum is located in Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta. Precisely located on Boyong Street, Kaliurang, Pakem District, Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta. If you want to go here, you have to travel 27 kilometers and take about 45-60 minutes from downtown Yogyakarta. There are 3 ways to get here:
- Private / rented vehicles, you can use private vehicles, just need to follow Kaliurang road to the north, then turn right onto Boyong Road.
- Public transportation, if you want to use the Trans Jogja bus, you have to take bus line 2B from the Malioboro bus stop to the Ullen Sentalu Museum bus stop.
- For online transportation, you can use Gojek, Grab, Maxim, and others.
